In the early 80's, Jeff and Eileen Creque were raising four children in the cramped second story of the original Creque homestead. Living above Jeff's grandmother, Eileen wanted a larger house of her own in the worst way. Needless to say when the (Golembiewski) greenhouse and truck farm came up for sale in 1984- they bought it. Eileen got her house and Jeff got 35 greenhouses. Jeff has been a lifelong farmer with a knack for growing and welcomed the challenge of growing crops inside.
In the early years, the greenhouse remained wholesale and grew flowers for grocery chains and tomato starter plants for farmers. As the operation grew, so did the local demand for plants. In the late 80's, Jeff and Eileen decided to open a retail outlet in front of the operation and offer top quality annuals, perennials, and vegetable plants to area residents.
To this day, Creque's remains family-owned and operated, as a wholesale and retail operation. Jeff and Eileen are proud to be assisted by their two sons, Tom and Brian, and their families. Their commitment to quality products and exceptional service has made Creque's Greenhouse Sylvania's "go to" garden center for over 30 years.
